Eleanor was baptized on Sunday. That's kind of a big deal for us. Eleanor's big deal got a little thrown off by the Storm of the Century of the Week. There were many people who weren't able to make it to the baptism due to the weather: Grandpa Hartzell, Grandma Clark, Eric B., and Uncle John all couldn't be there.
The most notable absence was Uncle Eric. He is Eleanor's Godfather. He tried driving home from Columbus on Saturday afternoon and spun off the highway. A kind gentleman helped him get his car back on the road and Eric had to turn around and head home. He went off the road twice more and he needed more kind strangers to push his car back onto the road. His car was attacked by velociraptors at one point. Then he stubbed his toe. He finally made it home and poured himself a glass of milk, but it was past the expiration date. Then a telemarketer called. Then he heard Layla on the radio right as it went into the piano part. I can't imagine anything else possibly going wrong. Hopefully we can go up and visit Eric soon. Until then, here's your consolation prize, Eric:
Otherwise, the baptism went fairly smoothly. Since it took place on the day after the time change during a blizzard, there was plenty of seating in church. We weren't able to pick up food from Honey Baked Ham on Saturday so Grandma Thorpe and Grandma Sweeney threw together a meal on short notice that was way better. I think I could pull four random items out of the pantry and Emily's mom could turn them into a great meal. Let's test that theory; here are four items randomly pulled from our pantry.
-Tomato sauce
-Baked Lays
-Ramen noodles
-Oreos
Let me know what you come up with. While we all wait to learn about this delicious concoction, here are some pictures to look at.
Mommy, Daddy, and Ellie. She is distracted by Uncle Brian's cologne and fart smell.
Eleanor is chocolate, Kathleen is yellow.
The proud Godmother.
Eleanor: [drives a jetski toward a snake]
Aunt Terrie: Get away from that snake!!! It's HUUUUUUUUGE!!!
Aunt Maureen: I think we should dock the houseboats this way.
Culinary question of the day - Pretend you are on Iron Chef. You have 60 minutes to come up with four dishes incorporating the theme ingredient. The theme ingredient is...PRAWNS!!! What do you make?
