Well, the holidays have come and gone, but I know you've all been anticipating pictures that marked the events. There aren't a ton, but that doesn't mean we didn't have a great Christmas and winter break. We just didn't do a lot of picture-taking. Eleanor really understood that Santa comes to houses on Christmas and she is still asking about him (and not understanding that she has to wait another year, now). Maura loved the boxes in true toddler fashion. And at one point, Eleanor might have broken down from being overwhelmed by all of her gifts - it's funny to see a child get upset and say, "I don't want to open any more presents."
These pictures show the holiday buildup and actual Christmas day!
Our friends Erin and John visited before Christmas; and, in the crazy snow hysteria to get home, Erin left her boots. Eleanor thought they would look good in the snow.
Maura, not to be outdone, found her purse to show she's just as stylin'.
Don't make me mad or you will get the glare. She's not afraid to use it either...scary. We like to say that you always know where you stand with Maura.
Much better mood and rockin' a "Woodstock" hairdo (from the Charlie Brown cartoon, not the 60's). I couldn't get a very good angle, but I do remember why I took the picture.
Somewhat matching outfits - they're going to hate this in just a few short years, but in the meantime, Mom's rules rule!
Maura is trying out another hairdo - a 1920's homage.
Great Grandpa Hartzell and his posse of great-grand children.
Santa's coming!!!!
He actually stopped by our house a week early for one of his test runs. Maura was one of the only couple who would actually sit on his lap. Apparently it was cold outside, since his glasses kept fogging up. Get some windshield wipers for those glasses, Santa!
Oh, Andy wanted to get a last few items in to Santa before the big night. I'm sure Andy was completely appropriate (as always).
Christmas morning!
This might look like a sad, little tree, and it kind of is. But we call it our Charlie Brown tree - from Target - only $20 - from our first year of marriage. It will retire soon, but we just love it. And so did Santa, apparently.
Christmas morning.
We have to wait at the top of the stairs so Daddy can check that Santa has left and everything is OK. Hopefully many more amazing years of this tradition to follow!
A bicycle helmet! One of our favorite gifts. What can we say, she believes in safety first.
Helping to show off more gifts at Mimi and Papa Thorpe's
Chillin' with Papa and her new "cell phone"
A Cozy Coupe that we didn't want to get out of or share with sister - I see lots of fights in the future - thanks, Mimi and Papa Sweeney:)
And not to be outdone, Uncle Mike and Aunt Megan provided a loud, annoying guitar that is, of course, Eleanor's favorite. She was ready to jam as soon we got it out.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and until next time.
