A playdate with Eleanor and Eric B.

Eric B. and I have been best friends since junior high. We ran track and cross country together in high school, lived together in college, and he was one of the best men at our wedding (the other being Uncle B). Many of the significant moments in my life involve Eric B., a bottle of liquor, and a crowd of people who think we're a-holes. Despite this long history of friendship, Eric has been noticibly absent from our blog. There are several reasons for this:

1.) Eric is pursuing his law degree at the University of Cincinnati. Between the two of us, we don't have much spare time.
2.) Eric is deathly afraid of babies.

It's true. Eric came to the hospital the day Eleanor was born and was afraid to hold her. Apparently babies are his own personal Freddy Kruger. Recently, Eric decided to confront his fears. Here is how it all played out.

As a side note, I think Freddy Kruger sits next to me every Friday morning at bible study.

Eric cautiously handing Eleanor a toy.

Eric reading Eleanor a story from a safe distance.

Somewhat braver, but treating Eleanor like she's E.T.

Eric: Please don't hurt me.
Eleanor: This guy is a douche.

It was a mostly successful playdate. Nobody got hurt and Eric kept control of his bowels. Great success!

Cowardly question of the day - What are you afraid of?

I can vouch for Andy when he says that Freddy Krueger sits near him at Bible Study. It's true. See him with your own eyes Friday mornings around 7:15 at Panera in Hyde Park.
